What You'll Need to Begin Training

A few FAA requirements to have squared away before your first lesson — happy to walk you through any of these.

Minimum Age

16 to solo, 17 to take your practical test and earn a Private Pilot certificate.

English Proficiency

Able to read, speak, write, and understand English well enough to train and be tested.

FAA Medical Certificate

A valid medical certificate matching your training goal, or BasicMed once you're eligible.

Government-Issued Photo ID

A driver's license or passport to verify your identity before we start training.

TSA Citizenship Verification

Andrew Cimpean, CFI/CFII

My name is Andrew Cimpean, and my journey to fly started at the age of three — back when I told everyone I'd become a pilot when I grew up. Today, I'm a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII), and I feel incredibly blessed to help bring your aviation dreams to life.

I believe flight training should be well-ordered but enjoyable, without losing the excitement that got you interested in the first place. Every student learns differently, and I tailor each lesson to how you learn best — not just pushing another person through the system.

As we train together, my goal is simple: Understand the aircraft and own your decisions in the air.
